About Us
Our Mission:
Our mission is to spotlight the town of Maynard, MA as a diverse and welcoming community and to support and engage the LGBTQ+ community in Maynard and greater Middlesex county.
By spearheading efforts to create Pride celebrations and other year-round inclusive events and programs to Maynard we will:
o Bring the LGBTQ+ community and their allies together in celebration
o Provide economic outlets for LGBTQ + owned businesses, artists, craftspeople and performers
o Showcase other non-profit organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community
o Provide area businesses with an opportunity to support and market themselves to the LGBTQ+ community
How we Started
The idea for Maynard Pride came about from responses to a community survey produced in 2023 by the Maynard Cultural District Committee. Having a sizable LGBTQ+ community in town, a few residents wondered why Maynard had never had a Pride celebration of its’ own. After doing a little in person chatting, we discovered very enthusiastic support from both the town’s LGBTQ+ population and their allies. The Maynard Pride Association was born and a small, core team began planning and executing the First Maynard Pride Celebration in June 2024, which morphed from a single day into a weekend of events, with a comedy night, mini film fest and the Pride Festival itself in Maynard’s downtown Cultural District.
With vendors, music, food trucks and a huge amount of community support, our first Pride was a resounding success. We followed up with our own survey and found that our LGBTQ+ respondents were looking for community events throughout the year, in addition to Pride.
Realizing we needed to raise more funds to meet our goals and continue to grow, we incorporated into a non-profit 501c3 organization, Maynard Pride Association, Inc. with a mission for our community and beyond!
